D’o\u00f9 vient cette croyance tenace selon laquelle l’orgasme d’une femme n’est \u00ab vrai \u00bb que s’il est atteint par p\u00e9n\u00e9tration ? Le mythe vaginal est profond\u00e9ment ancr\u00e9 dans la psychanalyse et la culture. Il repose sur l’id\u00e9e que l’orgasme clitoridien est immature et que seul l’orgasme vaginal est le summum mature et adulte du plaisir. Voyons \u00e7a \u00e9tape par \u00e9tape, depuis les d\u00e9buts jusqu’\u00e0 sa d\u00e9mystification. C’est une histoire pleine de pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s, de science et d’\u00e9mancipation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les racines psychanalytiques chez Freud<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tout commence au d\u00e9but du XXe si\u00e8cle avec Sigmund Freud. Il \u00e9tait le p\u00e8re de la psychanalyse et voyait la sexualit\u00e9 f\u00e9minine \u00e0 travers un prisme fortement influenc\u00e9 par son \u00e9poque. Dans son ouvrage \u00ab Trois essais sur la th\u00e9orie sexuelle \u00bb publi\u00e9 en 1905, il classait les orgasmes en deux cat\u00e9gories. L’orgasme clitoridien ? Pour lui, c’\u00e9tait un vestige de l’enfance, immature et enfantin. Les femmes devaient le \u00ab surmonter \u00bb pour devenir matures, en passant \u00e0 l’orgasme vaginal, consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme profond et p\u00e9n\u00e9trant. Freud pensait que \u00e7a correspondait au d\u00e9veloppement : du clitoris, organe \u00ab masculin \u00bb, au vagin, symbole de la f\u00e9minit\u00e9. Beaucoup de femmes en souffraient, disait-on, parce qu’elles n’arrivaient pas \u00e0 faire cette transition, une \u00ab hyst\u00e9rie \u00bb qui n\u00e9cessitait une th\u00e9rapie. Imagine une patiente assise dans le cabinet viennois de Freud, d\u00e9crivant son d\u00e9sir, et lui qui diagnostique : \u00ab Immature \u00bb. Psychologiquement, c’\u00e9tait un coup dur qui plongeait les femmes dans la honte et donnait du pouvoir aux hommes. Le mythe \u00e9tait n\u00e9, et il a r\u00e9sonn\u00e9 pendant des d\u00e9cennies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kinsey et les premi\u00e8res fissures dans la fa\u00e7ade<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Puis vint Alfred Kinsey dans les ann\u00e9es 1940 et 1950. Ce sexologue am\u00e9ricain \u00e9tait un entomologiste qui est pass\u00e9 des mouches \u00e0 la sexualit\u00e9 humaine. Ses \u00ab rapports Kinsey \u00bb \u2013 \u00ab Sexual Behavior in the Human Male \u00bb en 1948 et \u00ab Sexual Behavior in the Human Female \u00bb en 1953 \u2013 \u00e9taient bas\u00e9s sur des milliers d’entretiens. Ce qu’il a d\u00e9couvert \u00e9tait r\u00e9volutionnaire : la plupart des femmes atteignaient l’orgasme par stimulation clitoridienne, et pas seulement par voie vaginale. Seul un petit pourcentage y arrivait par la p\u00e9n\u00e9tration seule. Kinsey a qualifi\u00e9 le mythe vaginal de \u00ab reflet de la vanit\u00e9 masculine \u00bb, parce que les hommes surestimaient leur r\u00f4le de \u00ab conqu\u00e9rants \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il a d\u00e9crit des femmes qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 honn\u00eates dans les enqu\u00eates : une femme au foyer du Midwest a avou\u00e9 qu’elle se caressait parce que son mari n’\u00e9tait pas au courant. Psychologiquement, elle se sentait coupable, mais Kinsey a normalis\u00e9 \u00e7a. La science a bris\u00e9 le mythe, mais la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 ? Elle s’y est accroch\u00e9e. La pornographie et les guides pratiques ont continu\u00e9 \u00e0 pr\u00eacher l’orgasme \u00ab profond \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’explosion f\u00e9ministe des ann\u00e9es 1960 et 1970<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

La deuxi\u00e8me vague du f\u00e9minisme a fait exploser le mythe. En 1968, Anne Koedt a \u00e9crit son essai \u00ab The Myth of the Vaginal Orgasm \u00bb (Le mythe de l’orgasme vaginal). En tant que f\u00e9ministe radicale \u00e0 New York, elle a dit que ce mythe servait \u00e0 opprimer les femmes. Il les rendait d\u00e9pendantes des hommes et ignorait le clitoris comme centre du plaisir. Koedt a donn\u00e9 une image claire : une femme dans une r\u00e9union de sensibilisation partage sa frustration \u2013 \u00ab Je ne jouis jamais comme il le veut \u00bb \u2013 et le groupe se rend compte de la supercherie culturelle. Psychologiquement, c’\u00e9tait lib\u00e9rateur : tout \u00e0 coup, le clitoris n’\u00e9tait plus un tabou, mais un symbole d’autonomie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

William Masters et Virginia Johnson ont rapidement suivi avec leur livre \u00ab Human Sexual Response \u00bb en 1966. Ils ont mesur\u00e9 physiologiquement : tous les orgasmes sont clitoridiens, le vagin a peu de terminaisons nerveuses. Le mythe ? Anatomiquement faux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shere Hite s’est appuy\u00e9e sur ces travaux. Son \u00ab Hite Report \u00bb de 1976, bas\u00e9 sur 3 000 questionnaires, a montr\u00e9 que 70 \u00e0 80 % des femmes ont besoin d’une stimulation clitoridienne. Une lectrice l’a d\u00e9crit ainsi : dans sa maison de banlieue, \u00e0 la lueur des bougies, elle a demand\u00e9 \u00e0 son mari de lui faire un cunnilingus, et il a d’abord ri, puis il a appris. Le rapport a ridiculis\u00e9 le mythe et a donn\u00e9 du pouvoir aux femmes partout dans le monde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le mythe s’effrite, mais des traces subsistent<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dans les ann\u00e9es 2020, le mythe est en grande partie d\u00e9masqu\u00e9. Les neurosciences montrent que le clitoris a 8 000 terminaisons nerveuses, le vagin beaucoup moins. Des livres comme \u00ab Come as You Are \u00bb d’Emily Nagoski l’expliquent de mani\u00e8re accessible. Mais des vestiges subsistent : dans certaines cultures, dans la pornographie ou dans certaines relations, l’indignation appara\u00eet lorsque les femmes r\u00e9clament du plaisir clitoridien. Psychologiquement, cela trouve ses racines dans l’h\u00e9ritage de Freud, \u00e0 une \u00e9poque o\u00f9 le sexe \u00e9tait procr\u00e9atif et non h\u00e9doniste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
