The novel is short but extremely dense, full of grotesque, comical, sadistic, and surreal episodes\u2014a typical example of Apollinaire&#8217;s anarchic relationship to eroticism, humor, and the avant-garde.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-content-and-structure\"><strong>Content and structure<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The novel follows <strong>Mony Vibescu<\/strong>, a young Romanian prince (a <em>Hospodar<\/em>) who travels through Europe and experiences a series of sexual adventures that become increasingly excessive, absurd, and drastic.
